Fun and friendship on The Common

0

It was our pleasure to share a very enjoyable T20 game on The Common on the evening of Thursday 3 July 2025 between a Swardeston XI and The Keswick Cocks.

This is the third year running we have staged the game, the evening was blessed with great weather, good company, a few beers and a BBQ.

The visiting team had eight Dannatt family players taking to the field and included former Leicestershire and Notts batsman Greg Smith. It was great to see the younger Dannatts have such a good time and the progress they have made over the past year.

The Swardeston XI, well skippered by Sam Thelwell, featured three current 1st XI players, three from the 2nd team and with the remaining five players from around the club’s adult and youth teams.

Swardeston batted first and made 160-4 from their 20 overs with Ben Chapman making 38, Lewis Gooderham 32, Oli Browne 30 and Freddie Kelsey 26.

Keswick Cocks’ innings reached 133 all out with Greg Smith top scoring with 46. Khurram Nasim led the way with three wickets for Swardeston and there were two each for Browne and Kelsey.

Big thanks to all at the club who helped make it happen and those who popped along to watch.
