Based just south of Norwich, Swardeston – one of East Anglia’s leading cricket clubs – can trace its history back over 160 years.
We run four Saturday sides, a Sunday team and have a thriving youth section with teams at Under-19, Under-15, Under-13, Under-11 and Under-9 levels.
Swardeston’s 1st XI plays in the ECB Thurlow Nunn East Anglian Premier League, winning the league a record eight times. The remaining three teams play in the Lacons Brewery Norfolk Cricket Alliance.
We also have an active and growing women and girls section with the women’s team competing in the Shell Norfolk Women’s Outdoor League and girls teams at Under-11 and Under-13.
Swardeston run weekly youth cricket sessions during the summer with attendances regularly around the 100 mark. We also run the ECB All Stars and Dynamos programmes.
Swardeston is one of a number of clubs in Norfolk to have achieved the ECB’s ClubMark accreditation.
In 2021 Swardeston was appointed a Disability Champion Club and in the 2023 summer holidays will again be running a programme for SEND pupils from local junior schools.
2019 saw the club become the first in the country to do the national club double by winning the Royal London Club Championship at Lord’s and the Vitality Club T20 at Derbyshire CCC.
2016 was a landmark year for the club as we won the national NatWest Club T20 title and also reached the final of the Royal London National Club Championship.
The club has a thriving social scene with annual cricket dinner, club dinner, quiz, bbq and race nights. The club also has it’s own bar that is open after every game.
