Swardeston Cricket Club has secured a major new sponsorship deal.

The eight-times Thurlow Nunn East Anglian Premier League champions have agreed a three-year deal with Abode Construction to become the club’s new main sponsor.

Abode will be familiar to Swardeston followers as sponsors of the club’s annual cricket dinner which this March is a 360-ticket sell-out featuring England cricket legend Lord Ian Botham.

Abode take over from Leathes Priors Solicitors, who have supported the club as main sponsor for the past nine years, a period which has seen Swardeston win an unprecedented number of trophies, including three national club trophies and two East Anglian Premier League titles. LP will stay involved with Swardeston on a revised sponsorship footing which is currently being discussed.

Founded in 2020 and headquartered in Long Stratton, Abode specialises in delivering housing, care and education facilities for clients across Norfolk and Suffolk. In July 2023 Abode became main club sponsor at neighbouring Mulbarton Wanderers FC who play in the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division.

“As a contractor with a large footprint and client base in South Norfolk, we are delighted to now be main sponsor of Swardeston Cricket Club and Mulbarton Wanderers FC.”

Grant Keys, Abode Managing Director, said: “As a contractor with a large footprint and client base in South Norfolk, we are delighted to now be main sponsor of Swardeston Cricket Club and Mulbarton Wanderers FC. Both clubs are deeply rooted in their communities and provide a platform, not only for their adult teams to perform at a high level, but also for hundreds of local boys and girls to develop essential life skills through a shared passion for sport.”

“It has been an absolute privilege to support Swardeston Cricket Club as main sponsor over the past nine years. We have had some tremendous memories and have relished seeing the club achieve remarkable success on and off the field of play.

Dan Chapman, Partner at Leathes Prior, said: “It has been an absolute privilege to support Swardeston Cricket Club as main sponsor over the past nine years. We have had some tremendous memories and have relished seeing the club achieve remarkable success on and off the field of play. We will always remember that amazing day at the Home of Cricket in 2019 where Swardeston cemented themselves in Norfolk cricketing history but there are so many things achieved during our partnership to be proud of.

“Nine years of main sponsorship, to use cricketing parlance, represents a good innings but I am particularly delighted that Abode are coming on board as the club’s new main sponsors – they are a great company who will no doubt build on the legacy achieved.”

Under the deal, all Swardeston adult teams will wear Abode branded playing and training kit. The deal will also see Abode signage at The Common and branded stumps at both club grounds.

Swardeston chair Stuart Bartram said: “We are delighted that Abode has extended its support of us to become our main club sponsor. We have enjoyed having their backing for the past three years for our annual cricket dinner and look forward to a successful partnership over the next three years.

“I would like to say a huge thank you to all at Leathes Prior. The past nine years have been the most successful in the club’s history and we have treasured the partnership we built with the team at LP. We are delighted that they are to stay involved with the club.

“Performance on the field is very important to us but we remain determined to continue building a club which thrives at the heart of our community. The development of the club both on and off the pitch plays a crucial part in our thinking and we are hugely encouraged that Abode share this continuing ambition.”
