Well the dust has settled now on our 36th annual cricket dinner… and what a night it turned out to be.
Sponsored by Abode Construction (EA) Limited we welcomed English cricketing legend Lord Ian Botham as our honoured guest. And what delightful guests Lord and Lady Botham proved.
Massive thanks to Abode MD Grant Keys and his team to help us get this off the ground.
A 365-ticket sell-out, the dinner took place in a Premier Marquee Rentals marquee on our main ground at The Common in Swardeston. Catering was taken care of by Roger Lightfoot and his terrific team at Lightfoot Catering. Thank you to both of them.
Huge thanks to our fantastic village neighbours Production bureau Ltd, who provided so much on the event staging and PA front as part of their yearly support of the club. Top job PB.
Huge nod to Woodforde’s Brewery for the Real Ale bar in the marquee. A real success. And of course we thank Swardeston Village Hall and Swardeston Social Club for their support. Plus Sarah Bannock, George Walker and Peter Hornor played such important roles on the night and did it so well.
Very much appreciated the superb photos Matthew Brown captured for us to help remember the event.
A large team of club members also carried out a huge amount of volunteer work on the night from parking stewards to helping in the marquee. So proud of my club colleagues.
We must thank our table attendees, from individuals to many local companies who reserved tickets way back in October, and our auction and raffle donors who helped make it a success.
And finally none of this would have happened without the inspiration and drive of our wonderful dinner organiser Sarah Brennand. Such an impressive job Sarah wrangling this event into life.
Here’s to the next time!
