Sagi works with Sri Lankan squad at training camp

Great update from Sagi Rajaguru from Sri Lanka where he has just finished spending a week working with the national Test team.

Sagi was invited to Sri Lanka’s training camp at Radella ahead of the squad’s departure to New Zealand for the forthcoming series there.

Located some 4000 feet above sea level, the Radella Cricket Ground is among the most picturesque in the world. The combination of high altitude and cold weather, along with the pace, bounce and movement at Radella, offered the Sri Lankan players conditions very similar to those they are likley to face in the coming month.

Sagi was invited along to the training camp by national assistant coach Naveed Nawaz and spin coach Piyal Wijetunge. “The thinking was that as New Zealand have tall legspinners in their line-up like Ish Sodhi then my height would provide a similar experience.

“Working with Piyal I was also able to develop a new run-up while there.

“Seriously I can’t put that experience into words working with the national test squad. It was a blessing in my life and I feel so confident now that camp dragged me to a different level.”
