Mike Gatting to be guest speaker at Swardeston cricket dinner

Swardeston CC is proud to host its annual cricket dinner for the 32nd consecutive year with a big name in English cricket as guest speaker.

This year we have secured the services of one of the best-known names in English cricket as we welcome former England captain Mike Gatting OBE to Swardeston. It is also our pleasure to announce that Breakwater IT will sponsor the event for the second year running.

The dinner will take place at Swardeston Common on Tuesday 25 September 2018, 7 for 7.45pm. Tickets are £50 each.

Gatting played first-class cricket for Middlesex (1975–1998; captain 1983–1997) and 79 Test matches for England from 1977 to 1995, captaining the national side in 23 Test matches between 1986 and 1988. He also made 92 one-day international appearances.

He is currently a co-opted member of the Middlesex CCC Executive Board and an elected member of the MCC Committee. He has previously served as the ECB managing director of Cricket Partnerships and President of the MCC in 2013-2014. Since October 2017 he has been the chairman of MCC’s World Cricket committee.

Gatting was named as one of Wisden’s five Cricketers of theYear in 1984. In 1987, he was awarded an OBE.
