Swardeston is delighted to announce that we will be hosting our second game with the MCC.

Taking place on Wednesday 3 August with an 11.30am start, the MCC team will be captained by Swardeston 1st XI captain and MCC member Mark Thomas.

Thomas said: “We enjoyed the first game in 2014 and are very much looking forward to this second fixture.

“The team I will select for the MCC will contain a number of very good cricketers from outside the county. I think it will be a great opportunity for us to once again show off the club.

Swardeston chairman Mark Taylor said: “The 2014 fixture was a very enjoyable day and we hope the weather will be kind to us again this year. Spectators will be very welcome to come along and join us.”

MCC is the world’s most active cricket club, the owner of Lord’s Ground and the guardian of the Laws of the game. Founded in 1787, it has been recognised as the sole authority on the Laws of Cricket since its foundation.

Its teams play over 500 matches at home and abroad every year. The foundations of this programme are MCC’s fixtures against schools and clubs throughout the United Kingdom each summer. No fewer than 280 of these games are against schools, from both the public and independent sectors.

In addition, MCC faces over 150 clubs on a regular basis.
