The under 11s lost in the Dipple and Conway Opticians Terry Moore trophy to Great Melton at Garboldisham today.
Although the game was lost in the last over, in truth the whole side under performed. After being put into bat first, a succession of profligate shots and poor decision making saw us lose a totally unnecessary 9 wickets.
In response Melton batted circumspectly but without losing wickets until the final pair arrived at the crease and scored over 30 in four overs to win them the game. Again the seam bowlers generally did not attack the stumps enough and the catching and ground fielding was below par.
This loss, against a younger and less experienced team, was wholly deserved. Hopefully the lessons learned will remain with the players for the rest of their careers.
Well done to Great Melton on their first junior Alliance trophy, just reward for a well run and progressive club.
