On a day when rain was threatening at all times, the 3rds turned in by far their worst display of the season at GT Witchingham and contrived to lose the game by 10 wickets by 4 o clock. For the record, we scored 75 all out in 30 overs and these were knocked off without trouble in 11 overs.
In mitigation it was a bad toss to lose and one or two of the batsmen were unlucky, notably David Micklethwaite who was strangled and caught behind down the legside off a long hop. However the team in general will now have to consider whether this is the standard for the rest of the season , in which case relegation is a cast iron certainty, or if we are going to battle to save our status.
The batsmen lost us this game but we also bowled very poorly and did not create a chance on a helpful wicket.
