It was a good day for the 1st XI on Saturday as Peter Lambert top scored with 90 on the way to overcoming reigning champions Cambridge Granta’s 200-8 total at Clare College.

It was the third score in the nervous 90s this season for the gifted Lambert who is still waiting for his maiden EAPL ton.

Richard Sims also hit 55 in Swardeston’s six-wicket success. Jaden Hatwell earlier claimed 4 for 55 and George Walker 3 for 26, including eight maidens in 18 overs, as the hosts posted a modest-looking 200-8 thanks largely to 74 from Sean Park.

For the 2nd XI, Sapumal Herathge (79 not out) and Callum Taylor (74) combined to pave the way to a comfortable five-wicket success against Mattishall. Jason Cole had top scored with 90 in Mattishall’s 226-9 total, with young Matthew Taylor bagging 5 for 54 for Swardeston.

The 3rd XI kept pressure on the leaders in Division Three, with Matt Hogg (85 not out) and Ben Shearing (58 not out) dominating the bowling in a winning draw at Dersingham.

The 4th XI slipped disappointingly to an 81 run defeat against Halvergate at Hilltops. Set 226 to win, the wheels came off and they finished 145 all out, Chris Kennard (40) providing the only resistance. Earlier, Rory Olpin took four for 59 and Alex Levinson two for 28 for Swardeston-CEYMS.
