Swardeston will play in the Sky-televised finals of the Cockspur Club Twenty20 after beating Oundle by three wickets at The Common yesterday.
Mark Thomas’ side held their nerve in a closely contested regional final and will now be one of four teams appearing at Hampshire’s Rose Bowl stadium on Thursday, September 23rd.
After winning the toss yesterday, Thomas put the Northamptonshire side into bat and their innings revolved around Andy Reynoldson, who had made a century in the previous round.
He finished unbeaten on 61 as Swardeston’s bowlers did a decent containment job, with Oundle finishing on 142 for five.
Thomas opened for the hosts and blasted three sixes in his 36, while Richard Sims added 30 from 26 balls.
With nine needed from eight balls, George Walker lofted a six, but was out next ball. Ed Hopkins then punched the first ball of the last over back past the bowler for four to win the match.
