Swardeston-CEYMS Sharks opener James Hooper led the way with an undefeated 84 as the Sharks beat the Horsford Knights at Manor Park on Sunday. A key partnership of 145 for the second wicket between Hooper and Robbie Bridgstock (70) and a quickfire 21 from Dave Micklethwaite had seen the Sharks set themselves up for an impressive and emphatic victory, but three wickets in an over, including two run outs, had seen the Knights come back into the game, Hooper had other ideas and with the support of Josh Waterman he saw team home to seal a four wicket victory to bring the Cup back to the Common for the first time.

Earlier the bowlers had done a good job as Ryan Findlay threatened to take the game away from the Sharks, Findlay however didn’t get much support with only Adam Hunt (37) and Devin Bellchamber (31) going past 15 runs. The spinners shared most of the wickets with Matt Taylor taking 3 for 41 and Will Kennard 2 for 36. The bowlers were well backed up in the field with Micklethwaite and Josh Waterman both taking good catches to dismiss Findaly and Bellchamber.
