Swardeston have retained their EAPL title after cruising to a seven-wicket win over Clacton at The Common on Saturday.
Barring any points deductions, Mark Thomas’ side have an unassailable 62-point lead at the top – and if they win the Biss Trophy this weekend, they will have achieved a clean sweep of all four major competitions this year.
Thomas led the way on Saturday, taking the first four Clacton wickets with only 44 on the board. The visitors never recovered from that poor start and only Mark Comber showed much resistance, hitting four sixes in his 38.
Spinners George Walker (two for 33) and Jaden Hatwell (three for nine) completed the job as Clacton were dismissed for just 102 in the 35th over.
Despite losing Jonathan Cooper early, Swardeston were quickly out of the blocks as Rob Newton (40) and Peter Lambert (20) scored at a decent pace.
After they were both dismissed with the score on 65, Jaden Hatwell saw Swardeston to victory in the 19th over, finishing unbeaten on 31.
