Swardeston reached their fourth succesive Carter Cup final with an emphatic 96 run victory at Norfolk Alliance side Acle this afternoon.
A century from Jaden Hatwell helped Swardeston post a total of 274 for 9 and he was well supported by George Walker who hit 55 in a partnership of 91 for the sixth wicket which helped Mark Thomas’ side recover from 85 for 5. Ian Tufts and Thomas then added 57 for the eight wicket as the strength in depth of the Swardeston batting came to the fore once more.
In reply Acle were never in the hunt and impressive spells from Sam Thelwell, whose first seven over stint conceded just four runs, and Richard Sims saw the required rate rise above a run a ball as the hosts aspirations fizzled out.
Swardeston will face new opposition as their opponents in the last three seasons finals, Vauxhall Mallards, lost their semi-final to Horsford.
