Swardeston’s Bud Bailey is one of two young Northamptonshire cricketers among 54 players chosen for the ECB’s Skill Set programme this winter.
Northants Academy fast bowler Bud Bailey (pace bowling) and newly-appointed England U19 captain Alex Wakely (batting) will attend specialist coaching sessions at the National Cricket Performance Centre in Loughborough, between now and Christmas.
The former Zimbabwe and Derbyshire coach, Dave Houghton, will provide the technical expertise for the batsmen, while ex-England stars John Lever and Mike Hendrick are taking charge of the seamers.
The sessions are designed to fit into the players’ overall programmes with their counties – and their inclusion means they’ve been identified as cricketers with outstanding promise in their individual fields.
