Swardeston’s overseas cricket coaches Jaden Hatwell and Richard Sims are running cricket fun days for 8-13-year-olds during the school summer holidays.
Taking place at Hilltops, the CEYMS sports ground at Norwich Road, Swardeston, the fun days are for boys and girls who enjoy cricket and want to further their skills in an enjoyable environment, said Jaden.
Jaden and Richard are both level 2 qualified cricket coaches and play for Swardeston in the East Anglian Premier League. Richard is a former Zimbabwean international and Jaden, now living full-time in Norfolk, has played for Northern Districts in New Zealand.
“We will be using cricket balls, but all protective equipment will be available for the children to use. The days will consist of warm-up games, fielding, net sessions, use of the bowling machine and various games,” said Jaden.
“We will doing loads of games and skills for children of all abilities,” he added.
Richard has been coaching at Norwich School this summer and both have been helping Swardeston’s youth team players and also coaching the club’s newly formed women’s team.
Timetable: Monday 31 July to Friday 4 August – 10am to 3pm each day. Places are limited to 25 children per day.
Each session will cost £12 per child and children are advised to take a packed lunch, drink, hat, sunscreen and any cricket gear they may have. Swardeston club gear will also be available.
