Boon quits England for Foxes


Former Swardeston and Norfolk batsman Tim Boon is to leave his England post to become senior coach at Leicestershire.

Boon played 15 years for the Foxes before moving to Norfolk when his first-class career ended. He played one season with Norwich Wanderers before joining Swardeston.

Boon played for Swardeston in the Norfolk Alliance premier division in and played Minor Counties cricket for Norfolk from 1996 to 1999, when he was appointed England Under-19 team coach.

Boon has remained firm friends with Swardeston director of coaching David Thomas and in September arranged for a shirt signed by the victorious Ashes-winning England squad to be given to the club to be auctioned fo club funds at the annual stag dinner.
