Runner-up in the Howes Percival Youth Cricket Awards for 2004 was Ben Shearing, of Swardeston, who won £150.
Thirteen-year-old Shearing captained the Swardeston/CEYMS team which retained the Allan Bridgewater Under-13 Trophy this year. Shearing very much led from the front in the final against Hales with six wickets for three runs including a hat-trick which earned him the man-of-the-match award.
He also played a major part in the club’s Under-15 team reaching the Andy Seeley Trophy final. Shearing, also a regular member of his Norfolk county age group team, went on to make appearances for Swardeston in Division Two.
Shearing picked up his trophy at the Norfolk Alliance presentation evening at Pinebanks which was attended by more than 150 guests.
He also collected the Allan Bridgewater Trophy which Swardeston/CEYMS Under-13s retained this summer.
