After seeing off all of South Norfolk’s junior cricketers back in January, it was the rest of Norfolk’s turn to suffer as Swardeston’s U-14s dominated Saturday’s Norfolk Finals of the Lords Taverners Indoor Championship at the UEA Sportspark.
In the opening fixture, James Phillips & Tom Wilson guided Swardeston home against last year’s Eastern Counties champions Noth Runcton. Bradfield in the second game provided Swardeston with their toughest game of the day. Sensible batting by James Pearson and Alex Bilham secured the narrowest of victories by 8 runs.
Three teams were in with a chance of glory going into the final round of fixtures, but an inspired bowling spell by Josh Rowe and Ben Shearing saw Swardeston brush aside a determined effort from Hales to claim the Norfolk Indoor crown for 2004.
Swardeston now represent Norfolk at the Eastern Counties Finals at the UEA on April 3rd.
