Norfolk youngsters Rob Newton and Bud Bailey took starring roles in Northamptonshire Academy’s latest match – despite finishing on the losing side.
The Swardeston pair’s sterling efforts failed to prevent the Academy team suffering a three-wicket defeat at the hands of Peterborough Town at Campbell Park, Milton Keynes.
Newton had to survive a hat-trick ball after Northants lost wickets from the first two balls of their innings, but he went on to score 62, with two sixes and seven fours, out of his side’s total of 95 all out.
Bailey was the pick of the bowlers with three for 14 as Peterborough lost seven wickets reaching their target.
