Congratulations to 1st XI captain Alfie Cooper who was presented with his county cap on Sunday ahead of the Norfolk v Bedfordshire game.
Alfie received his cap alongside wicketkeeper Charlie Hood, of Horsford, with Norfolk President Richard Wright doing the honours.
Norfolk CCC Chair of Cricket and Selection Dave Bowker told the assembled crowd that Alfie remains the only player ever to score a 100 in first innings debut for Norfolk.
Alfie’s debut for Norfolk 1st XI came in 2022, scoring 126 on his NCCA Championship debut against Suffolk.
He has since gone on to play 58 times for the Norfolk 1st XI, scoring more almost 1900 runs, hitting 11 50s and two centuries. In the current season, Alfie is close to passing the 500-runs mark for the county.
Alfie joins a list of players who have at some stage appeared for Swardeston and been capped by the county: John Shepperd, Robert Bradford, David Thomas, Danny Stamp, Carl Rogers, Neil Fox, Tim Boon, Carl Amos, Mark Thomas, Matt Boyden, James Walker, Michael Eccles, George Walker, Ben France, Alfie Cooper.
