Report: David Reeder

Swardeston bounced back after two narrow defeats to gain a comfortable 7-wicket win over previously unbeaten Mildenhall in their Anglian Vehicle Linings East Anglian Premier League match.

The hosts inserted the visitors and kept things tight in the power play. Tom Bailey then took two quick wickets, removing Ben Palmer (9) and Darren Ironside (6).

The visitors had taken the score to 89 before Ben France bowled Matt Allen (39), and then Sagi Rajaguru took two quick wickets, removing Ben Cross (1) and Dom Palmer (25).

Bailey returned and bowled Joe Tetley for 20. KC Cariappa smashed 36 off 15 balls before Rajaguru trapped him LBW.

France, Bailey and Rajaguru quickly picked up the last 3 wickets as the visitors were all out for 211 off 44.3 overs. Bailey finished with 4 for 65 and Rajaguru 3 for 45.

In reply, Swardeston lost Ben France early, bowled for 15. Tim Ward and Ben Chapman scored quickly, despatching anything loose.

With the score on 98, Ward hit a wide delivery to backward point and was caught for 33.

Captain Alfie Cooper joined Chapman as the latter became the aggressor, hitting 11 x 4s and 1 x 6 before he fell for an excellent 82.

Debutant Jonah Wicks (10no) joined Cooper (37no) as the pair comfortably negotiated the remaining runs required to bring up victory for the loss of just 3 wickets with nearly 15 overs to spare.
