It is with great sadness that we have learned of the death of Peter Tufts.
Peter was a long-term member and supporter of the club and is remembered with setting up one of our very first youth teams back in the 1980s and 1990s.
His sons Graham and Ian enjoyed playing careers with the club over many years.
Swardeston chair Stuart Bartram said: “Many club members will have fond memories of Peter over several decades. No more so than down The Common with his wife Peta cheering Graham and Ian and the club on.
“Swardeston owes him a huge debt of gratitude for all his hard work managing the very early youth teams. There were many fine players who prospered under his guidance and care.
“Peter’s work in running our Under-15 team to compete in the Andy Seeley Tropy laid the seed for the development of our Swardeston CEYMS youth section which now sees us field teams from Under-9 to Under-19.
“Our thoughts and condolences go to all the Tufts family.”
Peter passed away peacefully aged 89 at Hassingham House Care Home, Hingham and will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 67 years, Peta, his sons Graham and Ian, daughters-in-law Bryony and Lucy, and his grandchildren, Alice, Oscar, Harry, Olivia and Florence.
The funeral service will be held at St Andrew’s Church, Hingham on Monday 5 February 2024, at 12 noon. Followed by a private family committal.
