Yesterday we received confirmation that a 1st XI player from Saturday’s fixture v Horsford has recorded a positive PCR test for Covid-19.
As such the club has undertaken discussions with the Norfolk Cricket Board, Read Brothers East Anglian Premier League, Cecil Amey Opticians Norfolk Cricket Alliance and Saturday’s opposition Horsford CC to update all on the development.
We as a club are liaising with the player and he has provided details to the NHS track and trace system of contacts from Saturday. As the teams changed independently the only players in contact with him were members of the Swardeston team within the dressing room or on the field during the game. He has confirmed that he did not enter the clubhouse and ate his food outside the building with no contact with others except his own teammates.
All the close contacts of the affected player have now been contacted and instructed to self isolate for the recommended period.
Based on the advice received the scheduled 1st XI EAPL game on Saturday at Copdock & Old Ipswichian will not go ahead. All other club fixtures will proceed as normal.
We are also currently reviewing the impact on our coaching team with regards to Sunday’s All Stars session and next Tuesday’s youth practice session.
We will update more when we can.
