Swardeston-CEYMS became Norfolk champions of the ECB National Cup on Sunday, beating Ashmanhaugh & Barton Wanderers in the final.
Swardeston U15’s won the toss at Barton Turf and elected to bat. The opening partnership of Rory Olpin and Alex Levinson got Swardeston’s innings off to a quick start. Top scores Levinson (38) Kulkarni (28) with the rest of the team chipping in and bringing the total to 112-5 after 20 overs. Yash broke the opening partnership with a stumping by Rob Baker, Yash’s figures 4-0-20-2. Charlie Grisley got 2 quick wickets and figures of 2-1-7-2. Alex Stone took two good catches in the covers and bowled well with figures of 3-0-15-1. Tawanda Kandemwa saw the team home to victory bowling the last over. Ashmanhaugh & Barton Wanderers finishing 99-5 in their 20 overs. Swardeston winning by 13 runs.
This is Ashmanhaugh & Barton Wanderers cricket club’s Centenary year and their ex player, New Zealand’s Ross Taylor was spending the day at the club and was on hand to present the medals and Trophy.
