Swardeston Cricket Club has won a major new sponsorship deal.
The Gibbs Denley East Anglian Premier League club has agreed a three-year deal with The Parson Woodforde Freehouse and Restaurant to become the club’s main sponsor.
Based in Weston Longville, The Parson Woodforde is a traditional country pub with a modern twist. It re-opened in October 2010 under new management after an extensive refurbishment and now boasts a large restaurant, garden and four bed and breakfast rooms with en suite facilities.
Pub Manager David Smith said: “We are thrilled to take over as main sponsor and to support the local sporting community. We hope our backing can help Swardeston continue to develop its role as one of the leading clubs in East Anglia and beyond.”
Under the deal, the Swardeston adult playing kit will carry The Parson Woodforde logo and the logo for Norwich-based offshore engineering company Aquaterra Energy, as a supporting sponsor.
Swardeston chairman Mark Taylor said: “We are absolutely delighted that the team at The Parson Woodforde have agreed to become our main sponsor. Whilst performance on the field is very important to us, we are determined to continue building a club which thrives at the heart of a community. We are pleased that our new sponsors share our vision.”
Swardeston can trace its club history back over 150 years and in 2010 were crowned the ECB’s Cockspur T20 national champions after claiming victory under the live Sky cameras at Hampshire’s Rose Bowl ground.
The club now fields four adult Saturday teams, two on Sundays and has five junior teams from Under-9 to Under-17. Its popular Tuesday evening practice sessions during school term times regularly attract more than 80 youngsters.
