Packed dinner celebrates 2009 season

More than 90 annual dinner guests saw George Walker named as Swardeston’s premier team player of the year.

The Norfolk spinner topped the East Anglian Premier League bowling averages with 59 wickets at an average of 12.47, including six five-wicket hauls. Walker also scored more than 220 league runs.

Australian Chris Gardiner was named the 2nd XI player of the year for his 32 wickets in the Alliance premier division at an average of 21.94.

Young batsman Jonathan Martin picked up the honours for the A XI for scoring 371 league runs at an average of over 33. Martin’s top score of 85 not out came in the 77-run league win over North Runcton A.

All-rounder Tom Snelling was named the Swardeston CEYMS player of the year. Snelling scored 337 runs at an average of 25.92 and recorded a top score of 58 not out in the six-wicket win over Bradfield A. Snelling also picked up 21 league wicket at 25.38.
