Following Norfolk Cricket Board’s hard work in finalising the season’s points totals, I am delighted to let you know that we have finished winners of the Shell sponsored, Norfolk Women’s Outdoor League for the 2017 season.
Thank you for the wonderful efforts of ALL players, volunteers and supporters. The last-minute stand-ins, the younger girls who acquitted themselves so brilliantly and the older girls in the squad who have brought cricketing skill and dedication in equal measure.
So many have trained tirelessly and enthusiastically on Monday evenings at Hilltops. From those freezing early sessions in April through to those glorious mid-summer evenings, sometimes playing on the astro into the sunset!
No doubt many of us have great memories of these nights, where people just pitched up and played, enjoyed the atmosphere, friendships and laughs. Thank you.
Credit must go to the other teams in the league that gave us good playing opportunities, both home and away. Every match was played in exactly the right spirit and importantly many newcomers to the sport got an introduction to the game exactly as it should be played; with a smile.
Thanks to Beth Harmer, our ever- positive captain, Jason for bringing his unique blend of enthusiasm, energy and expertise and every single girl and women who represented our wonderful club. Thanks too to groundsman Pat Hall for providing beautifully-kept training facilities and of course wickets for our games.
