The Swardeston CC under 14 cricket team participated in the annual competition at the UEA on Saturday 22nd March 2008. They were able to complete victories over Hales, Thetford and Ashmanhaugh. The youngsters succumbed to narrow defeats against Vauxhall Mallards and Sheringham but were comprehensively beaten by Great Melton just before lunch which effectively ended their chances of winning. Bowling too short was a problem with a very strict ‘short no ball’ rule in place throughout the day.
Some valuable experience was gained by the younger players who can play again for the next couple of years. A special thanks to parents Chris Kennard and Mike Parkinson for assisting with the scoring through the day which was invaluable and at times quite frantic.
