Swardeston’s Zimbawean overseas player-coach Richard Sims has been presented with a sponsored top-of-the-range Land Rover Freelander 1.8 Xei Station Wagon from Hammond Land Rover of Halesworth.
Sims was presented with the car as part of a sponsorship deal by the Hammond Group to help him while he is coaching at Norwich School as part of Swardeston’s schools coaching scheme and playing for the club in the East Anglian Premier League.
As well as taking his signwritten Freelander to Norwich School each day, Sims will also be driving it all over the eastern region during Swardeston’s 2005 summer campaign.
Swardeston chairman Mark Taylor said: “We are truly indebted to Hammond Land Rover for this fantastic support for our schools coaching scheme and Richard in particular.”
Derek Hammond said: “We are only too happy to help support such a worthwhile community-based scheme. Like Swardeston we pride ourselves on our teamwork and team spirit at Hammond Group.”
The Hammond Group was formed in 1962 when Roy and Daisy Hammond first began their garage business in Wenhaston near Halesworth. Since then, the business has developed into one of the leading garage groups operating in East Anglia. It now comprises of four major dealerships for Land Rover, Ford, Nissan, Isuzu and a large accident and trailer repair business based in Dereham.
Despite it’s growth, the Hammond Group is today still very much a “family business” run jointly by the founder Roy and his two sons, Derek and Glen.
