Swardeston Under-14s retained the Norfolk Lords Taverners 6-a-side Indoor title this afternoon at the UEA Sportspark.
Having disposed of Horsford, Gt Melton, Topcroft, Blundeston and Sprowston in the previous rounds, Hales and Sheringham stood in U-14s’ way in the county final.
Swardeston ran out comfortable winners against Sheringham and with Hales also beating Sheringham it set up an exciting final game as Hales strove to end Swardeston’s reign as county champions .
Batting first, Swardeston posted a challenging 208-2 total. Hales chased it admirably, and were well in contention until the final two overs. Swardeston’s greater experience then told and they ran out winners by 15 runs.
