Swardeston produced a commanding chase to defeat Frinton by seven wickets in the Anglian Vehicle Linings East Anglian Premier League on Saturday, after Frinton had posted 266 for 9 from their 50 overs.
Frinton won the toss and chose to bat, and their innings was built around a patient 77 from Hamad Arshad and a fluent 53 from Nico Boje.
The pair helped the visitors recover from 53 for 2, with Boje striking five fours and two sixes before falling to Adam Todd at 166 for 3 in the 35th over.
Arshad carried Frinton deep into the innings, facing 111 balls and hitting eight boundaries, while Finlay Jones added 31 and Saad Bin Yousuf provided late impetus with 17 from 11 deliveries.
However, Swardeston kept taking wickets at important moments, limiting Frinton to 266.
Todd was the pick of the Swardeston bowlers with 3 for 56 from his 10 overs, while Richard Sims claimed 2 for 55.
Swardeston’s reply was emphatic and well controlled. Benjamin Chapman gave the chase early momentum with 31 from 31 balls before Richard Sims then accelerated smartly, striking 45 from 38 balls with nine fours, as Swardeston moved to 122 for 2 by the 20th over.
Oli Longdon anchored the innings with 62 from 92 deliveries and, along with Alfie Cooper, took the home side to the brink with a substantial third-wicket stand of 103 before Longdon was run out with the score on 225 in the 35th over.
Cooper finished unbeaten on 61 from 61 balls, including seven fours and two sixes, while Jonah Wicks added a rapid 26 not out from 17 balls to complete the chase at 267 for 3 with 10.3 overs remaining.
The result earned Swardeston 25 points, while Frinton took 6 points from the match.
